The partnership of Allam and Clements is recorded 1764-1795. A table clock by the partners of related design was sold at Christie’s London, Important Clocks and Marine Chronometers, 6 December 2006, lot 99. These small gilt brass mounted English table clocks made by a handfull of London makers including James Tregent have a lightness to their design greatly enhanced by the metal mouldings and brass inset canted corners giving a greater illusion to the refined lines, especially noticeable with the large floral engraved brass-bound ogee shaped side apertures, allowing as much of the strike sound into the room as possible.
