Unusual late Eighteenth Century Perfume box with fitted glass bottle. c. 1780. This charming box was produced in Staffordshire towards the end of the Eighteenth century. It is of unusual form, having a srew top removable lid and is decorated in the Prattware colours of the popular pottery of the period. A black tracery with green leaves and a light gilt finish over a mustard base. The top of the dome of the box is finished with a star motif in gilt raised enamel. The box contains a glass bottle with ground glass stopper to house the perfume, which would have been refilled to allow the lady of the period to carry a small amount with her. Tis delightful Eighteenth Century Staffordshire Enamel Perfume box stands 5.3 cm high and is 2 cm in diameter. (Measurements approximate). It is in Fine condition, showing only light wear appropriate to its age, function and substance. It has no damage and no restoration.
